JO-ANN MASCARENHAS

Director of Recreation and Rehabilitation

For over 25 years, Jo-Ann’s career spans from a Recreation Coordinator, Program Manager,
Marketing Director, Quality Improvement Manager/ Staff Educator/Resident Services
Coordinator for a multi-level LTC and Retirement Residence, Executive Director, and a
Corporate Program Consultant to her current position as a Director of Recreation and
Rehabilitation. She worked for two large LTC companies prior to joining RHM in June 2024. She
attributes her career success to a supportive family and mentors who challenged and inspired
her to be innovative, resourceful and to be the best version of herself.


As Director of Recreation and Rehabilitation, Jo-Ann provides day to day support to the
Recreation team in the homes, including training, ensuring the home is in compliance with the
Ministry of Long-Term Care, and supporting the home with various Person-Centered Living
initiatives including the Butterfly Project and Welbi. She enjoys her travels to homes across
Ontario, providing mentorship and creating spaces for creativity and loving environments.
She is a George Brown College graduate from the Activation Coordinator/Gerontology
program, a York University Alumni with a BA in Arts – Health and Society, Leadership and
Human Resources Management Certification from Sheridan College and Long-Term Care
Management certification from the Canadian Healthcare Association.


Jo-Ann was born and raised in Bombay, India. She moved to Canada in 1993. Along with her
husband and son, she enjoys traveling and been adventurous or relaxing at the cottage with
family and friends. She loves reading, sporting activities, gardening, all genres of music, dance
and art.
